Causin, also member of the defense committee at the Italian Senate, said that the decision of the United States to recognize the sovereignty of Morocco over its Sahara is a "clear and realistic" choice.
After recalling the decision of many countries, including the United States, to open consulates general in LaĆ¢youne and Dakhla, Causin hoped to see Italy follow the example of these countries and open a consulate in the Moroccan Sahara region.
