"This election undoubtedly signifies the acknowledgment of a comprehensive process and policy that has solidified Morocco's achievements in upholding human rights and reinforcing the principles of the rule of law," Klein told MAP.
"No one can overlook Morocco's advancements in the field of human rights. Consequently, the Kingdom has secured the confidence of the majority of Council member countries," he asserted.
"This recognition underscores Morocco's commitment to universal human rights principles and its determination to champion values of peace," highlighted the Spanish academic. "Morocco will undoubtedly fulfill its role to enhance the Council's mission."
The Kingdom of Morocco has just been successfully elected to the Presidency of the United Nations Human Rights Council for 2024, following a vote held on Wednesday in Geneva.
Out of the forty-seven members of the United Nations Human Rights Council, 30 supported Morocco's candidacy, in contrast to South Africa, which only garnered 17 votes, as indicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates in a statement.
