At the end of a new round of the Libyan Dialogue which took place in the presence of Nasser Bourita, minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Mr. Ibrahim Sahd, representative of the High Council State, expressed deep gratitude to HM the King and to the Kingdom of Morocco for the "numerous opportunities they have offered us" as well as for their support and confidence.
Morocco is at the head of the parties that work to promote agreements between the Libyan parties, he said, noting that Libyans seek to recover their unity to contribute positively to the restitution of the spirit of the Maghreb Union so that it sets itself up as a model of understanding, brotherhood, cooperation and development at the service of the peoples of the region and the continent.
Mr. Sahd also said he was satisfied with the agreement reached through Morocco's support on the issue of sovereignty positions, considering that this is a "good step" forward in the path of the unification of Libyan institutions.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Al-Bandak, representative of the Libyan House of Representatives, expressed his thanks to HM King Mohammed VI and to the Kingdom of Morocco for their efforts to bring points of view closer between the Libyan parties.
He highlighted the sincere feelings of Morocco towards Libya, which "are not driven by interests", underlining the Kingdom's concern to facilitate all the measures which allow to achieve satisfactory results between the Libyan stakeholders.
At the end of this new round, the delegations of the High Council of State and the Libyan House of Representatives agreed on the formation and appointment of small work teams to take practical measures regarding the holders of sovereignty posts.
These teams will ensure in particular the development of application forms and invite candidates to present their files which must meet the agreed criteria and conditions.
This new round of dialogue took place following the previous sessions held by the two parties in September, October and November 2020 in Bouznika and Tangier, which led to the conclusion of "comprehensive agreements on the criteria and mechanisms for occupying positions of sovereignty, provided for by article 15 of the Libyan Political Agreement concluded in December 2015 in Skhirat ".
