A patrol of the Gendarmerie Royale arrested the police officer, early Friday in the outskirts of Oued Zem, while he was on board his car, the National Police (DGSN) said in a statement.
The police officer was caught red-handed in possession of 98 grams of cannabis resin, large sums of money of dubious origin in national and European currency, and of three Moroccan passports issued to other people.
He was also in possession of nine cell phones and of an alarm pistol, in addition to about 100 rounds of 8 mm caliber ammunition, a box containing 475 metal bullets and a Moroccan license plate, the same source added.
The arrested police officer was placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation led by the competent public prosecutor's office to determine the circumstances of this case, the origin of the objects seized and all the criminal acts he is accused of.
The DGSN services decided to temporarily suspend the police officer pending the outcome of the criminal investigation carried out in this case, the statement concluded.
