Morocco will preside this event in his capacity of chair of the WIPO General Assembly for the 2020/2021 biennium, according to a statement of the Moroccan diplomatic mission in Geneva.
Prior to this important meeting that will be chaired by Morocco’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Omar Zniber, intense consultations were held with WIPO member states in order to prepare for the meeting and lay the groundwork for its success, the same source added.
The Kingdom of Morocco was unanimously elected, in October 2019, as chair of the WIPO General Assembly.
With this mandate, Morocco is the first Arab country and the second African State, after Nigeria, to preside over the WIPO General Assembly since its creation in 1967.
