Morocco is represented, at this two-day meeting, which brings together more than 120 delegates representing 41 African parliaments, by a delegation including MPs Cherkaoui Znaidi (Socialist group) and Nadia Bouzendoua ((PAM), the coordinator of the Democratic Confederation of Labour group, Khalihenna El Karch, and Rachida El Alaoui, in charge of international cooperation at the House of Representatives (Lower House).
Speaking on this occasion, Bouzendoua outlined the pioneering experience of the Kingdom in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, stressing that "Morocco has put in place a comprehensive and multidimensional strategy based on proactive vigilance and increased cooperation with international partners".
This successful strategy has led to a significant decline in cases of infection in the Kingdom, she noted, reviewing the work sites and programs with a solidarity dimension set up by Morocco from the beginning of the pandemic.
The Moroccan MP also underlined the importance of a "real African unity" in order to promote a common action in favor of the health sector and to reduce vulnerability.
To accelerate the post-Covid economic recovery, she called for the opening of borders between all countries of the continent and the creation of an effective free trade area to take advantage of trade and regional economic integration.
In addition, the Moroccan delegation held meetings with several African parliamentary delegations, during which the delegation members presented the many initiatives launched by the Kingdom, in implementation of the High Orientations of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic, mentioning, in this regard, the creation of the Special Fund for the management of the pandemic to support the affected sectors and companies as well as the adoption of the framework law on the generalization of social protection.
During these meetings, the Moroccan delegation expressed the willingness of the Kingdom to share its experience with African countries in the fight against the pandemic, within the framework of South-South cooperation.
According to the APU, this session will be an opportunity to share best practices in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the promotion of good governance and innovations, the post-Covid economic recovery as well as the implementation of the agreement of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The agenda of this session also includes the examination, by the delegates, of the implementation of the decisions and recommendations of the Conference of Presidents and the audited management accounts for the years 2020 and 2021.
